We can design and build professional and appealing website that you will be proud of to represent your company's image online. But wait! There are many more huge benefits...

We design and build around a Core CMS - which is great news for you!

CMS is an acronym for Content Management System. But what is that exactly? Well, let us explain...

You could go to a web design company and have them design and build you a new website. Typically this will cost in the regions of £300 - £700 and sometimes even more. And 9 times out of 10 your website will be built up of individual 'static html' pages. Your 'content' is most often 'hard coded' into the web pages directly. And, to keep it really simply, this essentially means that if YOU want to update your website, you need to have at least a bare minimum of web development skills to work with. This is not always as easy especially if other various and slightly more complex file formats have been incorporated into your website by the developer for which you have no understanding and wouldn't really be expected to. The majority of inexperienced people who try to edit their websites usually end up 'messing it all up'.

With this scenario the only real solution is to have an experienced web developer maintain your website on a continual basis. This is not only a more expensive option, it also means that you have to 'wait'. You have to email over the changes you want made and you have to wait until the web developer gets round to it. You don't have flexibility.

But here now enters CMS - a totally different story!

CMS is essentially a system which enables the distinct separation of 'design' and 'content'. These are two seperate elements. Rather than your content being 'hard coded' into your webpages, the information is instead stored into tables on a database. You then have a 'template'. This is your website's design and layout. The template is 'plugged in' to your database. When your website pages load, the information in the database is displayed (into modules in your template). See Module Positions for a clear and visual explanation of this.

When you want to change the content on your website all you have to do is change the information stored in the database. And this is REALLY SIMPLE. What's more - you can't 'mess it up'! A 'GUI' editor (graphical user interface) is used to connect to and access the database. You will likely be familiar with such programs as Microsoft Word etc. These are GUIs (or WYSIWYG editors). Whenever you want to change your content, all you need to do is open up the editor. You see exactly the content in front of you exactly as it is displayed on your website, without any confusing code. You simply work with this as easily as if you were writing an email or typing out an office document. Your changes will be reflected IMMEDIATELY on your website. It is a very simple and and extremely fast process to update and change your website whenever you want to. With your editor you can even add images and video etc at the touch of a button.

There is yet another great benefit of CMS. Because the content elements are entirely separate to your design elements, it is also a much more simple process to change your design at a later stage if you decide to, without it entailing a major and expensive operation. In fact, let's say for example that you have had a new template designed and built for you. Well literally at the touch of a button you could switch from one design to the other and back and forth as and when you choose!
